WHAT DATE AND TIME IS THE EVENT & WHAT DISTANCES ARE AVAILABLE?

2K Mini Motivators: 6.00pm

5K and 10K: 6.40pm

The 5K run/walk and 10K run will start together under wave starts. Waves will be between 2-5 minutes apart.

Discount code applies to “Sole Motive Community Members”. “Sole Motive Community Members” include those who’ve registered for a Sole Motive event in the past 12 months (since December 7, 2016), or made a purchase at the Sole Motive retail store at 170 Queen Street and can show proof of purchase, or have subscribed to Runner’s World in 2017.

 

If you meet the above conditions, and have not received an email with a discount code, please send us an email to info@solemotive.com with your details, and how you’ve been a part of the Sole Motive community this year and we’ll investigate for you.

I’VE ALREADY REGISTERED, AND I DIDN’T USE A DISCOUNT CODE.

Unfortunately your discount code can only be redeemed during the registration process.  Refunds for the discount amount cannot be given.

CAN I GET A DISCOUNT CODE IF I’M NEW TO THE SOLE MOTIVE COMMUNITY THIS YEAR?

If you haven’t run with us, shopped with us or subscribed to Runner’s World this year, you can still participate in the End of Year Run Party, however you aren’t eligible to a discount this year – but when next year’s event comes around, you will qualify for the discount.

WHAT ARE MY OPTIONS IF I’VE ENTERED AND CAN NO LONGER PARTICIPATE?

Changes can be made to your entry up until 1 week out from the event. There are no refunds for non-starters or non-finishers. We do offer a credit note , or you can downgrade your distance or transfer your registration over to another participant. Note: credit notes will not be issued after 5pm Tuesday December 5, but if you wish to change your distance or transfer your registration to a new participant within the week of the event, you can still do so by emailing info@solemotive.com.

 

If you would like to downgrade your distance or transfer your registration to a new participant:

  1. Visit the members hub
  2. Select your event
  3. Select ‘View Details’
  4. Select the ’Transfers’ tab
  5. Choose which type of transfer it is (i.e. either between distance or between people)
  6. Hit continue and complete the transfer

If you would like a credit note:

If you would like a credit note (minus $10 administration fee) please email Sole Motive via info@solemotive.com no later than 5pm Tuesday December 5 – credit notes will be not be issued after this time. Credit notes are valid for Sole Motive events only and are valid for 1 year from the date of issue.

WHAT HAPPENS IF I’VE RECEIVED MY RACE PACK AND DECIDE NOT TO PARTICIPATE?

You don’t have to notify the organisers if you are unable to run for any reason. Under no circumstances may you transfer or give your race bib or timing tag to another person to use.

WHAT IF I LOSE MY RACE NUMBER?

You will need to pick-up another Race Pack from the Event Village from 5.00pm at the Entries Marquee. All participants must wear a race number. Anyone without a race number will not be permitted to start the event.

CAN I CHANGE MY DISTANCE?

Follow these steps if you would like to increase or decrease your distance:

  1. Visit the members hub
  2. Select your event
  3. Select ‘View Details’
  4. Select the ’Transfers’ tab
  5. Choose which type of transfer it is (i.e. either between distance or between people)
  6. Hit continue and complete the transfer

Your credit card transaction will be displayed as ‘Sole Motive’.

CAN WHEELCHAIR ATHLETES ENTER?

CAN I PARTICIPATE IN TWO DIFFERENT DISTANCES?

Unfortunately, due to start times, it is not possible to compete in two distances. Parents accompanying children in the 2K Mini Motivators will have time to return to the start line for the 5K or 10K events.

CAN I ENTER ON THE DAY?

Yes, visit the Entries marquee, in the Event Village (Palms Lawn) from 5pm.

TRANSPORT

It’s easy to get to the Event Village by public transport. You can catch a single, direct tram from either the CBD or St Kilda.

 

From the CBD: Take Tram #12 that is heading to St Kilda via Collins St. The tram travels west along Collins St, heads south along Spencer St and then into Clarendon St. Get off the tram at Stop 130 (corner of Clarendon St and Albert Rd), walk across the road and Palms Lawn is directly ahead of you and to the left.

 

From St Kilda: Take Tram #96 towards Brunswick. Get off the tram at Stop 129 (Melbourne Sports and Aquatic Centre/Wright St). Head east towards Albert Park Lake and Palms Lawn is beside the lake.

Albert Park is outside the Free Tram Zone so you will need to buy a Myki card, available at any 7-Eleven store or train station.

Getting there on bike

Bicycle parking will be available at the event. Please bring a lock as we cannot accept responsibility for bikes lost or stolen.

 

Getting there on foot

Enter Albert Park via any of the gates around the park and follow the path to Palms Lawn. The gate on Albert Rd, opposite Clarendon St is the closest to the CBD.

 

Getting there by road

Enter Albert Park from the gate on Albert Park Rd, opposite Clarendon St. Paid parking ($2.60, bring coins, no change available) is available in the Lakeside car park. There is some free, on-street parking nearby. Try Canterbury Road, Albert Road, Clarendon St and Moray St., a 5 – 10 minute walk from your car to the Event Village.

RACE DAY INFORMATION

WHAT SHOULD I WEAR?

Runners – comfortable running gear and shoes suited to running. Participants should be aware that some fabrics can induce chafing, which can become quite severe, especially for those in the 10K. It is advisable that you wear clothing that you have trained in and are confident that you will be able cover the distance comfortably in.

CAN I BRING MY DOG OR OTHER PET TO RUN/WALK WITH ME?

For safety reasons, animals are not permitted on the course. Note: Guide dogs are allowed.

CAN I RIDE MY BIKE ALONGSIDE MY FRIEND WHO IS RUNNING?

For safety reasons, bikes and rollerblades are not permitted on the course.

CAN I PUSH A PRAM IN THE EVENT?

All-Terrain prams are permitted however entrants are asked to start at the back of the group.

I HAVE A TODDLER, DO THEY HAVE TO PAY?

Children under four years of age are not required to pay the entry fee, however for safety and insurance reasons we do still require an entry form to be completed.

WHERE WILL THE TOILETS BE LOCATED?

There will be toilets located at the Event Village.

WHERE WILL THE FIRST AID STATIONS BE LOCATED?

There will be a first aid station located at the finish line at the Event Village. There will also be a roving First Aid team out on the course.

WHERE WILL THE DRINK STATIONS BE?

There will be four drink stations— three on the course and one at the finish line. You can also grab a drink of water in the event village before you head to the start line.

I HAVE A CHANCE OF WINNING, DO I NEED TO ENTER AN EARLY WAVE?

Placegetters will be awarded on gun time, which is the time the gun goes off until the finish i.e. the first participant across the finish line wins. If there are multiple wave starts, it is the responsibility of the participant to position themselves in the first wave should they believe they have a chance of placing in the top ten.

 

If you believe you will be in the top 10 male/ top 10 female in each race category, please ensure you are close to the start line as the top three places awarded on race day are based on gun time. The decision of the Race Director is final.

WHAT HAPPENS IF IT IS RAINING ON THE DAY OF THE EVENT?

The event will generally go ahead rain or shine. In case of extreme weather the organisers will decide if it is safe for the event to continue.

Please note: If the event is cancelled, entries are non-refundable.

HOW IS THE COURSE MEASURED?

The course is measured using a GPS watch.

TIMING & RESULTS

WILL I BE TIMED?

We will be using the Race Result software and hardware timing system to time all runners. Your timing device is located on the back of your bib, and does not need to be returned after your race.

WHERE CAN I FIND MY RESULTS?

Live results are available online. Official results will be available from 9am the following morning. Participants who have nominated to receive SMS results, and have paid an additional $2, will receive their results SMS on the evening of the event.

HOW WILL I BE TIMED ON DAY, AND WHAT IS NET TIME?

Net time is the time a participant crosses the start line until they cross the finish line. This is how results are displayed on the website, however place getters are awarded on gun time, so the first person across the finish line wins.

ARE THERE ANY TIME RESTRICTIONS?

This is an off-road event, there are no time restrictions.

DO KIDS GET TIMED?

Yes, all participants will be timed (this includes children participating in the 2K Mini Motivators).

Please note: Placegetters will not be awarded in the 2K Mini Motivators distance. However online results will be published, and SMS results will be available for purchase.

Free Drink Offer - Terms and Conditions:

For every friend who registers using a Sole Motive Community Member discount code, each friend and the Community Member who referred them, will receive 1 FREE DRINK each. Free drinks are only available for participants who register by 19 November 11:59pm.

 

Runners eligible for a free drink will have a tear-off strip on their race bib to redeem a FREE alcoholic or non-alcoholic drink at the End of Year Run Party.
