Things you should know
Please download your 6k Run Melbourne 2017, presented by lululemon Participant Instructions here.
Start area: The 6km run/walk will start at the intersection of St Kilda Road and just south of Linlithgow Avenue. Please note that the 6km Start Line will close at 11:10am.
Finish area: Is located within Birrarung Marr, adjacent to Federation Square.

Warm-up: The 6km warm-up will be held at the main stage at Federation Square at 10:15am.
Drink Stations: There are four water stations on each loop of the course. They are approximately 2 – 3km apart. There are also water stations at the event village and the finish area.

Ready to test yourself and see if that training has been paying off? The 6K run/walk is perfect for first-time participants wanting to get amongst the spirit of Run Melbourne. With an easy loop past the Shrine of Remembrance, around the Botanic Gardens and back through Alexandra Gardens, you’ll love the energy and enthusiasm you get from running with thousands of others as well as past bands, cheer squads and fan zones! Grab a friend, lace up and get going!

Course Update: An increase in roadworks around Melbourne has forced us to make a few course updates. Working closely with VicRoads, we’ve been advised to update our courses to remove participants running under the Swan Street Bridge. As a result, all Run Melbourne courses have been updated in one section of each course, with one major update, the 5K becomes a 6K event with a new start time of 10.45am.
- Receive a 5K timing split but official results are based on 6K distance.
- Final finishing time on the event certificate and online race results are based on the final 6K distance.
- Awards will be given based on 6K finishers
- 6K finishers will receive a Run Melbourne Medal (with 5K printed on it)Course Map: Click the icon below to view

Presentation ceremonies: Presentation ceremonies will take place at 11:15am from the main stage at Federation Square. Medals will be awarded to the male and female winners of the 6km event. Official results and awards are based on the 6K distance.
The final finishing time (listed on your event certificate and instant online results) is based on the final 6K distance, but 6K entrants will also receive a 5K timing split.
Age category winners will receive a medal however these will be posted out after the event. The age categories are: U18, 18 – 29 years, 30 – 39 years, 40 – 49 years, 50 – 59 years, 60 – 69 years & 70+.
6K finishers will receive the original 5K Run Melbourne medal.
