Sandy Point Half Marathon Event Information

The Sandy Point Half Marathon is held along the streets of Melbourne’s iconic bayside, starting at Green Point, Brighton. Held on Sunday 27 August, 2017 choose from the Half-Marathon, 10km, 5km or 3km kids run.

About Sandy Point

The Sandy Point Half Marathon offered three distances with stunning views of Melbourne’s Port Phillip Bay. Located on Beach Road, the beautiful course and its surroundings will help you stay motivated to cross the finish line.

Late entry Registrations:

Late entries are available at Green Point, Brighton at the below times;

Saturday 26 August: 2pm – 5pm
Sunday 27 August: 5:45am – 9:30am

Distances & Times

Half Marathon – 7:40am

10km – 7:10am

5km – 8:15am

3km Kids Run – 9:30am

Event Timetable

What are my options if I cannot participate?

 

 

You do not have to notify Sole Motive, the organiser if you are unable to run for any reason.

However, there are no refunds for non-starters or non-finishers. We do offer a credit note, or you can change your distance. If you would like to change your distance please email info@solemotive.com If you would like a credit note (minus $10 administration fee) please email info@solemotive.com by 5:00pm Friday 18 August 2017. After this time no credit notes will be offered. Credit notes are valid for Sole Motive events only and are valid for 1 year from the date of issue.

3km kids run minimum age

4 years old – 14 years old. Children aged 5 years and under (on Sunday, 27 August, 2017) must be accompanied around the course by a guardian. Guardians do not need to enter the event and participate free of charge.

Race Day Information

Clothing storage


Clothing storage is available during the run/walk. Your race number features a tear-off strip for you to attach to your backpack or clothing bag (plastic bags are available if needed). Do not leave any valuables in the clothing bags as we cannot accept responsibility for valuables lost or stolen.

Drink stations


 

There will be drink stations located both on course and at the finish line.

Toilet facilities

There will be toilets available both in the assembly area and on-course. 

Food and beverage


 

Following  your run/walk, join us in the event village and grab some food and beverages from our onsite vendors.

Wave starts

WAVE STARTS

If you believe you will be in the Top 10 male/female in each race category, please ensure you are close to the start line as the top three places awarded on race day are based on gun time.

To improve the experience for runners, we will have wave starts as listed below. Please position yourself accordingly.

5KM & 3KM KIDS RUN

There will be no waves for these events and all runners will start at the same time.

10KM

PRIORITY – For runners who selected elite start in the entry process (will have elite written on race bibs).

WAVE A – participants under 45 minutes

WAVE B – remainder of 10KM participants

HALF MARATHON

PRIORITY – For runners who selected elite start in the entry process (will have elite written on race bibs)

WAVE A – participants under 1:45 minutes

WAVE B – remainder of HM participants

WHEELCHAIR participants will start five minutes prior to the first wave in their distance

Runner's World Pace Leaders

Pace Leaders 

Join a pace team to help meet your desired time goal! Pace leaders will be present for the 5KM run, 10KM run and Half-marathon distances.

The pace groups offered are as follows:

5KM PACE TIMES: 25 mins, 30 mins

10KM PACE TIMES: 40 mins, 45mins, 50mins, 55 mins, 60 mins, 70 mins

HALF MARATHON PACE TIMES: 1:30, 1:35, 1:40, 1:45, 1:50, 1:55, 2:00, 2:10

Pace leaders will be running on ‘gun time’, and will start in the suitable wave to that distance. Pacers will be wearing a balloon and race number with the goal time displayed for easy visibility.

Presentations


 

The first three males and first three females in the 5km, 10km and 21km runs will be presented with their medals on the morning of the event (based on gun time, so first three across the line).

All Kids Run participants receive a medal and a time however no place getter medals are awarded as the event is to encourage participation.

Aerobics warm up


 

An aerobics warm up will commence 20 minutes prior to the start of each race.

Race Pack Postage & Collection Options

Race Pack Postage and Collection

There are three options to collect your race kit:

Option 1 – Postage: If you wish to have your race pack posted to you, you must register before 9:00am, Wednesday 16 August 2017. Please note, a delivery fee of $8.95 applies.

Option 2 – Pickup from Sole Motive:

If you wish to “collect from the Sole Motive store”, you must also register before 9:00am, Wednesday 16th August 2017. Race packs will be available for collection from 10:00am, Thursday 17 August until Midday on Friday 25th August 2017.

Option 3 – Pickup on race day:

If you chose to pickup your race pack from the event site, you can at the RACE PACK COLLECTION marquee on Saturday 26th August 2017 between 2:00pm and 5:00pm or alternatively on the morning of the event from 6:00am. Simply line up in the queue that indicates the first letter of your surname. Your timing piece (provided in your race pack) should be firmly attached to one shoe using the tie provided in the envelope.

Note: timing pieces remain the property of Sole Motive and must be handed in before you leave the event. If it is not returned, you will be charged $50.
