Postage

The cut off to choose postage is Sunday, 20 October.

Event Village Collection

If you opt to collect your race pack, it will be available to collect from 12–4pm, 9 November and 7am-7:40am, 10 November from the Event Village. Please note on Sunday, 10 November the 5km pick up will be at King George Terrace from 8:30-9:20am.

Distances can be changed online here. Distance upgrades/downgrades can be made online up until 11:59pm Thursday 7 November.

If a race bib has already been assigned for your original distance you will be able to use it for your new distance on race day.

Refunds/credit notes cannot be issued for the difference in entry fee (if any) when downgrading your distance.

There is ample parking within walking distance to the race Start and Finish Areas. Parking is free in the P zones. Public Parking is available at the following locations:

ANZAC Park West and CIT Car Parks

5K Start Area
John Gorton Building – Accessed from Parkes Place East or Dorothy Tangney Place.
Treasury Building – Accessed from Parkes Place West or Langton Crescent.
National Library Car Park – Accessed from King Edward Terrace or Parkes Place West.
Mall Road West Parking – Accessed from Parkes Place West.

All attendees to the Canberra Times Fun Run should be aware that it is an offence under the National Land (Road Transport) Ordinance 2014 to park a vehicle on open space in the area where the Canberra Times Fun Run is being held. Open space is any area that is not designed for the movement or parking of motor vehicles, such as grassed areas, footpaths and landscaped areas. The National Capital Authority will be enforcing parking regulations for the duration of this event, and attendees should ensure they park legally to avoid the risk of an infringement being issued to their vehicle.

Clothing storage is available during the run/walk. Your race number features a tear-off strip for you to attach to your backpack or clothing bag. Do not leave any valuables in your bag as we cannot accept responsibility for valuables lost or stolen.

We no longer offer single-use plastic bags at the bag drop, so please remember to bring your own bag to the event.

  • 10km – All children under the age of 13 years must be accompanied by an adult.
  • 5km – All children under the age of 13 years must be accompanied by an adult.
  • 2km – Children aged 4 to 14 years of age. Parents/guardians can participate with their children in the 2km distance free of charge.

Family pricing is available when registering 2 adults and 2 children (aged under 18 on the date of the event).

What do Pace Leaders do?

Pace Groups give you the chance to run with a group under the guidance of an experienced run leader who runs at a calculated pace to get you to the finish line at a specific time.

Where do I meet my Pace Leader?

Visit the Runner’s World pace leader marquee 15 minutes before your race or go to the start line to meet the pace leaders.

What pace groups are offered?

The pace groups offered are as follows:

10K PACE TIMES: 40 mins, 45mins, 50mins, 55 mins, 60 mins, 70 mins, 75 mins, 80mins

Pace leaders will be running on ‘gun time’, and will start in the suitable wave to that distance. Pacers will be wearing a balloon and race number with the goal time displayed for easy visibility.

You don’t have to notify Sole Motive if you are unable to run for any reason. However, there are no refunds for non-starters or non-finishers.

We do offer the following:

1 – Withdrawal from the event – receive a credit note: Withdrawals receive a credit note if they are made before 5:00pm, Friday 1 November 2019. After this date, no credit notes will be issued. Credit notes are valid for 1 year from the date of issuing and valid for Sole Motive owned events and cannot be used for contracted events. Refunds will not be issued. When an entrant registers, they agree to the below terms and conditions;

T&C 13. I agree that there are no refunds, however, I may request a credit note for other Sole Motive owned events* (minus $10 for admin fees) no later than 5pm Friday, one week prior to the event date.

*With the exception of Run Melbourne credit notes (minus $20 for admin fees) will only be issued if requested no later than 1 month prior to the event date.

2 – Downgrade from your race: event downgrades can be made online up until 13 October 2019.

Refunds/credit notes cannot be issued for the difference in entry fee (if any) when downgrading your distance.

Please note: Any changes to your registration (name, distance, postage) will incur a $10 administration fee.

You don’t have to notify the organisers if you are unable to run for any reason. Under no circumstances may you transfer or give your race bib or timing tag to another person to use.

You will need to pick-up another Race Pack at the Event Village from 7:00am at the Entries Marquee.

All participants must wear a race number. Anyone without a race number will not be permitted to start the event. Please note replacement race numbers for lost race numbers or incorrect addresses will incur a $10 admin fee.

Yes, on day entries are available from 7:00am on event day from the Entries Marquee in the Event Village.

Yes, prams are permitted however entrants are asked to start at the back of the group.

The event will generally go ahead rain or shine. In case of extreme weather, we will decide if it is safe for the event to continue.

Please note: If the event is cancelled, entries are non-refundable.

The course is measured using a GPS watch.

We will be using the ‘Race Result’ software and hardware timing system to time all runners. Your timing device is located on the back of your bib and does not need to be returned after your race.

Net time is the time a participant crosses the start line until they cross the finish line. This is how results are displayed on the website, however place getters are awarded on gun time, so the first person across the finish line wins.

Live results will be available online.

Participants who have nominated to receive SMS results, and have paid an additional $2, will receive their results SMS on the evening of the event.

Children under four years of age are not required to pay the entry fee, however for safety and insurance reasons we do still require an entry form to be completed.

Your credit card transaction will be displayed as ‘Sole Motive’.

For safety reasons, animals are not permitted on the course. Note: Guide dogs are allowed.

For safety reasons, bikes and rollerblades are not permitted on the course.

There will be a first aid station located at the finish line in the Event Village. There will also be a roving First Aid team out on the course. Please refer to the course map.

Placegetters will be awarded on gun time, which is the time the gun goes off until the finish i.e. the first participant across the finish line wins. If there are multiple wave starts, it is the responsibility of the participant to position themselves in the first wave should they believe they have a chance of placing in the top ten.

If you believe you will be in the top 10 male/ top 10 female in each race category, please ensure you are close to the start line as the top three places awarded on race day are based on gun time. The decision of the Race Director is final.
