TRACKING YOUR RUN

You can track your run using the Official App, your GPS watch or a running app such as Strava.

Due to the app going live late on 6 November, participants are no longer required to use the app to track their run.

To start recording your run, go to the ‘My Virtual Run’ section of the app and enter your Running No and Registration ID. These details will be emailed to all participants on 6 November 2020. You only need to do this once.

You can start your run any time after 00:07:00 AEST on Saturday, 7 November. You will need to have completed your distance by 23:59:59 AEST on Sunday, 15 November.

When you are ready to begin your run, click ‘Start My Run’.

The app will stop once you have completed your chosen distance. If you’d like to change your distance for the virtual event, click here.

Once you have completed your race, you will be able to access your certificate, digital medal and use the selfie frames available on the app.

You will need to submit your results via a unique result upload link before 23:59:59 15 November. The link will be emailed to you on 5 November.

Please use that link to upload your .gpx file. from a secondary device if needed.

Please refer to the app-specific FAQs here first.

If you can’t find what the answer you’re looking for, please contact us.

During office hours (Mon/Wed/Thu – 9am to 5pm AEST), please contact info@solemotive.com.

Outside of office hours, please contact us via Facebook Messenger: m.me/solemotiveaus. We will be monitoring our inbox closely from 7-15 November and will do our best to respond promptly.

Simply click the unique link emailed to you and add your race day results – time, distance and a photo/screenshot or link of your time/distance.

You are not required to provide a link AND an image. One of the two is fine.

Please submit a link to – or a screenshot of – your results from the Official App, your tracking device or other running app (e.g. Strava or Garmin).

All participants have been emailed a link to join our The Canberra Times Marathon Festival Virtual Strava Club.

DOWNLOAD THE APP
Go to your device’s app store and download the Strava app (Google Play or App Store)

CREATE YOUR ACCOUNT
You can choose to either sign up with Facebook, Google or your email.

COMPLETE YOUR PROFILE
Strava will prompt you to immediately fill out some basic information for your profile. It’s up to you how much of your personal details you want to keep private.

You can skip the other initial prompts with as little action as possible.

There’s nothing Strava will ask you up front that you won’t be able to change later, and it’s more worthwhile to make those decisions while learning to navigate the platform.

JOIN THE GROUP
Now that you’ve explored the basic functions, it’s time to get started. We’re ready, are you? Click the link in the email to request to join The Canberra Times Marathon Virtual Strava Club.

USING A FITNESS TRACKER/GPS WATCH

On the app, head to “Settings”, then “Applications, Services and Devices”, then Connect a device to Strava. This will automatically upload your workouts after you save the activity to your watch.

USING THE STRAVA APP (no tracker)
Tap the Record tab in the app. The GPS on your smartphone will record the data, & once you’re done with your workout it will be uploaded to your activities when you hit save.

MANUALLY
Choose the plus sign then select the manual entry option. From there, you can fill in as many
details as you know, taken, for example, from a basic watch.

Getting your results link from Strava

From the Strava app, go to Profile > Activities, then click on the “Share” icon (box with arrow pointing up), click “More” and press “Copy” to copy the link or, alternatively, save the image.

We recommend saving the image rather than using the upload link as this won’t work if your profile is set to “Private”.

Preliminary results will be available here as they come through. Race participants will be emailed once results are official
