Air Quality

The smoke has cleared down in Portsea this morning and there is currently no concern. The event is going ahead.

Our Race Director is liaising with State Emergency Services and the EPA with regard to air quality.

We will notify all participants via SMS, email, our website and the Facebook Event page if there is cause for concern.

Weather

In terms of temperature, perfect running conditions are forecast for Saturday evening.

The cool change will come through late-afternoon and the temperature is predicted to drop to the low 20s for the run. The evening will be met with a cool breeze and the temperature will drop below 20°, so pack your layers!

Allow additional time to arrive at the event, as there is a high volume of participants expected and increased traffic due to summer school holidays.

Drive to the end of Point Nepean Road, Portsea and into the entrance of Point Nepean National Park. Please follow the directional signage past the Visitor Centre, and continue along Defense Road. Sole Motive event marshals will direct you to park your car on Jarman Oval.

CAR PARKING
Free parking is available at Jarman Oval. The car park opens at 3:00pm – please allow 45mins to park your car. Please expect that there will be queues when parking at the event.

Please note: there is no parking on Defense Road – parking fines will be enforced.

Portsea Passenger Service operates Route 788 from Frankston via Rosebud, with a bus stop located at the entrance of Point Nepean National Park.

SEVERE WEATHER CONTINGENCIES ARE IN PLACE & WILL BE COMMUNICATED THE WEEK OF THE EVENT

In the event of excessively high temperatures, Sole Motive reserves the right to delay the race start in the interest of all participants safety.

In the event of a Code Red Day, where extra extreme fire danger is expected, Parks Victoria will close the park. This is a decision that is made by the Department of Sustainability and Environment and is in place to ensure the safety of all park visitors and Portsea Twilight event participants.

Free parking is available at Jarman Oval. The car park opens at 3:30pm – please allow 45mins to park your car. Please expect that there will be queues when parking at the event.

Clothing storage is available in the Event Village. Look for the ‘Bag Drop’ marquee.

Your race number features a tear-off strip for you to attach to your backpack or clothing bag. Do not leave any valuables in your bag as we cannot accept responsibility for valuables lost or stolen. We no longer offer single-use plastic bags at the bag drop, so please remember to bring your own bag to the event.

Postage

If you opted to have your race pack posted to you, it will arrive in the mail between Thursday 12 December and Friday 21 December.

NO PETS ARE ALLOWED IN POINT NEPEAN NATIONAL PARK

Dogs, cats and other domestic animals are not allowed in Point Nepean National Park at any time, including within vehicles and at special events. Guide dogs are excepted.

Participants accompanied by prohibited animals will be required to leave the park and may be subject to fines from the local authority.
