INSPIRING A CITY TO RUN

Run Melbourne isn’t your average run. Over the last 12 years it has grown into a movement that has changed the culture of what it means to run through the city streets.

With closed roads and a fast, flat course, more than 20,000 runners descend on the streets, heading past some of Melbourne’s most famous landmarks. Cheer zones and epic vibes make this a race weekend unlike any other. Join the movement and let’s inspire our city to run.

Ange Is Running For Her Sister

Ange joined Team FightMND in Run Melbourne last year, after her sister Jane was diagnosed with Motor Neurone Disease (MND). The disease hit Jane hard and fast. The sisters planned to complete the run together with Ange running and pushing Jane in her wheelchair. Just days before Run Melbourne, Jane passed away. Ange didn't give up. A true champion, Ange, ran 21.1 kilometres to the finish line and wore her sister's ring on her finger. Ange raised close to $100,000 for FightMND.

Brady Is Running For His Community

Raising money for Johnno's Run and participating in Run Melbourne is one of the highlights of Brady’s year. Over the last 5 years, Johnno’s Run has raised enough money to build a house to support people living with a disability. “It's a humbling feeling when driving or running past that brand new house, knowing you played a small part in helping it come together.”

Emma Is Running For Her Daughter

In 2013, Emma and Steve’s 15-month old daughter passed away in her sleep. Their lives changed forever on that day. Three months later, Steve decided to start running again and complete a Half Marathon. He reached out to some friends and quickly, Team Sylvie Sunshine was born with about 250 people signing up. “Our mission is to raise awareness for SIDS and SUDC (Sudden Unexpected Death in Childhood).” So far, they’ve raised nearly $190,000.
