Let the crowd of thousands help to push you across the finish line as you aim to crush your goals and beat your best 10K or complete your first 10k.


10KM COURSE

 

 

With a start along St Kilda Road, just south of Linlithgow Ave, embrace your 10K race day as you make your way onto Birdwood Ave for a lap around The Tan (watch for the slight incline!). Passing the Shrine of Remembrance get ready to put in a little speed through a fast section of the course down Anderson St hill and along Alexander Ave. Onto Linlithgow Ave and Petticoat Ln where you’re coming up to the halfway point of the race.

 

 

Head back across Swan St Bridge with the newly made pedestrian walkway before striding along Batman Ave, past Rod Laver and around Grandslam Oval. Soak up the vibe from at this entertainment hot spot before running across Rod Laver Bridge. Dig deep through the last section of the course along Yarra Park and Brunton Ave, before giving it all you have as you bring it home in the last kilometre. Caution: there’s one final hill up Wellington Parade South. Nailed it! And a final left turn into Batman Avenue with a 500m downhill and you’re into the finish chute at Birrarung Marr.

Please note: These dates and times are only valid for PRE event. The Run Melbourne Race Day event timetable will be released closer to event day.

BAG DROP

Is available at Federation Square (opposite the Main Stage). Please do not leave valuables in your bag. Run Melbourne accepts no responsibility for lost or stolen items. Attach the tear-off strip on the bottom of your race bib to your bag.

Keep your race bib so that you can collect your bag post-event.

Please note, this year we’re cutting down on single-use plastics and will not be providing plastic bags to put belongings in at the Bag Drop Marquee. Please remember to bring your own bag to the event

TOILET LOCATIONS

You will be able to find toilets in the following locations pre-event:

 

On Route to Event Village:

  • Birrarung Marr, Artplay Silver Bullet
  • Birrarung Marr, Speakers Corner (Batman Ave)
  • Queen Victoria Gardens, Linlithgow Ave Silver Bullet
  • Alexandra Gardens Skatepark

 

Inside the Event Village:

  • Federation Square – Public Toilets open from 6:00am
  • Federation Square – River Terrace

 

Half Marathon Start line:

  • Flinders St station Concourse

 

5K & 10K Start line:

  • Corner of Linlithgow and Birdwood Ave

WARM UP

The 10k warm-up will be held at the main stage at Federation Square at 8:30am.

Runner's World Pace Leaders

Join a Runner’s World pace group at Run Melbourne. Pace Groups give you the chance to run with a group under the guidance of an experienced run leader who runs at a pace calculated to get the group to the finish line at a specific time.

Visit the Runner’s World pace leader marquee to get your pacing band to wear on your wrist on race day – this tells you an estimated time to help you keep your pace.

All 10K participants must meet their Runner’s World Pace Leaders from 8:45AM at the Runner’s World pace leader marquee or find them at the start line – you’ll be able to locate them easily, as each pace leader will be holding target times for each distance.

Pace Leaders will be pacing the following times for the 10K:

  • 40min
  • 45min
  • 50min
  • 55min
  • 60min
  • 65min
  • 70min
START LINE & WAVE START ZONES

Please note, that all the information below relates to the Bulk Nutrients 10K participants:

 

START LINE LOCATION: St Kilda Rd.

 

RACE START TIME: 9:15AM. We recommend you arrive at the event at least one hour before your race start time.

 

 

WAVE START ASSEMBLY TIMES:

  • 8:45AM for Wave A, B and Champion Charity runners
  • 9:00AM for Wave C and D runners

PREDICTED FINISH TIMES PER WAVE ALLOCATION:

  • WAVE A – Under 55mins
  • WAVE B – 56mins – 1 hour
  • WAVE C – 1 hour, 1 min – 1 hour, 10 mins
  • WAVE D – 1 hour, 10 mins +

 

If you wish to run with friends or family who are starting in a different Wave Start Zone,  you may start in a slower zone than that printed on your race number (e.g. someone with a B Zone label may start in B, C, or D) but not in a faster one (e.g. A).

 

Please note: Wave Start Zones will be in place at the start line of each race to ensure a smooth start for all participants. Entrants are asked to assemble in the appropriate zone as indicated by the letter printed on their race bib.

Kilometre markers

The kilometre markers for the 10km event will be coloured Green.

Split Time

The timing system will record the 5K split time.

DRINK STATIONS

Drink stations are located every 2-3km The 10k will pass 4 drink stations.

Please refer to your course map for drink station locations.

WHEELCHAIR INFORMATION

RACING WHEELCHAIR

If you are a racing wheelchair please contact thomas@solemotive.com to secure your spot. The racing wheelchair wave will start approximately 10 minutes before the official 5K event – at 9:05AM.

 

WHEELCHAIR ACCESS

Run Melbourne accommodates wheelchairs in our event.  If you’re not a Racing Wheelchair Athlete, please start at the back of the final wave in your event.
