Catch train services to Flinders Street Station. Take the St Kilda Rd exit from the station and walk to Federation Square. Be aware that the start time of the Runner’s World Half Marathon may be before your earliest train service.

Routes 1, 3/3a, 5, 6, 8, 16, 64, 67, 72 service St Kilda Rd; disembark at Federation Square.

Parking is extremely limited. We strongly recommend you use public transport to get to the event. If you’re driving please plan your route and parking location prior to the event.

Bike parking available at Federation Square alongside Flinders St and at River Terrace.

The 2020 Road Closure Map will be available closer to event day.

Live Cellist

Desmond Potts started playing cello as a child and was fortunate to have the celebrated Concert Cellist John Kennedy as his teacher. Desmond has maintained a love for music particularly the deep rich sounds of the cello. He has entertained on the streets bridges and subways of London and for many year the streets malls and lanes of Melbourne.

JJ Bailey is a vocalist and guitarist with a passion for swampy blues and jazz standards, playing some of the classics of these genres as well as original compositions. She is also singer and rhythm guitarist in the duo, The Bay Leaves.

If a race bib has already been assigned for your original distance you will be able to use it for your new distance on race day.

*No portion of the entry fee will be donated to charity. Entry fees are used to cover the cost of staging the event.

You can register on Saturday, 25 July from 8:00am – 4:00pm OR on Sunday, 26 July from 6:00am.

You don’t have to notify Sole Motive if you are unable to run for any reason. However, there are no refunds for non-starters or non-finishers.

We do offer the following:

1 – Withdrawal from the event – receive a credit note: Withdrawals receive a credit note if they are made before 5:00pm, Friday 26 June 2020.  After this date, no credit notes will be issued. Credit notes are valid for 1 year from the date of issuing and valid for Sole Motive owned events and cannot be used for contracted events. Refunds will not be issued. When an entrant registers, they agree to the below terms and conditions;

T&C #15. I agree that there are no refunds, however, I may request a credit note for other SM owned events (minus $20 for admin fees) no later than 5pm, one month prior to the event. After this date, no credit notes will be issued. Credit notes will not be issued when downgrading distances. Credit notes will be valid for SM owned events and cannot be used for contracted events. Credit notes are valid for 1 year from the date of issuing.

2 – Downgrade from your race: Event downgrades can be made online up until 5 July 2020. 

Refunds/credit notes cannot be issued for the difference in entry fee (if any) when downgrading your distance.

Please note: Any changes to your registration (name, distance, postage) will incur a $10 administration fee.

There is a $10 admin fee to transfer your entry into someone else’s name.

We strongly recommend catching public transport to and from the event. Half Marathon runners may have access to public transport using the night network to get to the event. View the Night Network Fact Sheet or visit the PTV Night Network website.

Alexandra Avenue (between Punt Rd and Morrell Bridge)

Once you find a park, along the Yarra and make your way to Birrarung Marr or Federation Square, please allow at least 10 minute’s walking time to get to the event site.

Fitzroy Gardens (Wellington Parade /Lansdowne St/Albert St/Clarendon St (city side only)

Once you find a park, walk to Wellington Parade Sth/Jolimont Terrace and continue down Flinders St to Federation Sq.

St Kilda Rd (Southbound lanes only North of Toorak Rd)

Once you find a park, walk along St Kilda Rd towards Federation Sq. Please allow at least 10-20 minutes walking time to get to the event site.

Paid Car Parks available:

  1. Arts Centre – access via South Bank Boulevard
  2. Federation Square Carpark – access via Russell St Extension.
  3. City Carparks

DO NOT PARK:

  • Around the Botanical Gardens

All distances have as strict course cut off time of 12pm. Cut off times are enforced to ensure the roads are re-opened in accordance with the event permits.

If you need to change your registration details (name, distance or postage) this will incur a $10 administration fee. If you need to update your details you can do so via Register Now. Please log in and click the cog wheel within your Run Melbourne registration, then click ‘My Registration’. On the next page, click ‘Edit’, update your details and then click ‘Save’.

We strongly discourage the use of headphones on the course. If you do choose to use headphones while running, please ensure that you are still able to hear what is happening around you.

No personal support riders or bike riders within the vicinity of runners are permitted on course. It is the responsibility of each athlete while running to ensure that no bikes are on the course near the runners. Any transgression will result in disqualification from the event.

The use of any type of drone or unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) is prohibited at the Event. Any person using a drone or UAV may be disqualified from the Event.

If you are running to lend a helping hand to someone who is unable to run without you, then please contact Sole Motive on (03) 9285 0600 or runmelbourne@solemotive.com.

All animals are strictly prohibited from entering any part of the course at any time.

Prams are permitted in all events – please start at the back of your wave for safety reasons.

All runners in the Half-Marathon, the 10k and 5k races will be timed. If you wish to receive a finishing time all Run Melbourne participants must wear their RACE BIB. Your Race Bib contains a disposable timing chip, if you don’t wear your bib, you won’t receive an official time.

Please wear your race bib on the front of your top and ensure it is visible.

Net time is the time the participant crosses the start line until they cross the finish line. This is how results are displayed on the website, and will be used to award aged category places. These times are for participant information only and are not used to determine place getters. Placegetters are determined by gun time – the first three male and females across the finish line.

Live results will be available online from www.runmelbourne.com.au.

Participants who have nominated to receive SMS results and have paid an additional $2 will receive their results SMS on the evening of the event, and finishers will receive a certificate via email.
