LET's GET VIRTUAL.
Keep running. Stay focused. Stay connected.
25-26 July 2020
21.1km, 10km or 5km
If you’re anything like us, you’re craving a bit of race day buzz and the feeling of working towards that race day goal. While we can’t come together, we can be united by the challenge of running together, alone.
Completing this virtual race is a great build-up and training exercise in the lead up to the official Run Melbourne event, now planned for November.
So challenge your running buddy, your dad, your sister, your mate, your colleagues… and make it a virtual date!
Running is more important than ever! That’s why we’re encouraging you to lace up with us on 26 July as planned.
We’re ready to celebrate our original plans, and hope you are too.
Just because we can’t get together on race day, doesn’t mean we can’t race. Don’t get rid of your training program just yet… because Race Day is still on.
Let’s come together as a community and run together, apart.
Join our Strava club to get access to a free 6-week training plan prepared by our accredited performance coach, plus weekly coaching advice and the chance to win prizes from our event sponsors!

CREATE YOUR ACCOUNT
You can choose to either sign up with Facebook, Google or your email.
COMPLETE YOUR PROFILE
Strava will prompt you to immediately fill out some basic information for your profile. It’s up to you how much of your personal details you want to keep private.
You can skip the other initial prompts with as little action as possible.
There’s nothing Strava will ask you up front that you won’t be able to change later,
and it’s more worthwhile to make those decisions while learning to navigate the platform.
JOIN THE GROUP
Now that you’ve explored the basic functions, it’s time to get started. We’re ready, are you? Click the link in the email to request to join the Run Melbourne Virtual Strava Club.
There are three ways to track your runs using Strava:
USING A FITNESS TRACKER
On the app, head to “Settings”, then “Applications, Services and Devices”, then Connect a device to Strava. This will automatically upload your workouts after you save the activity to your watch.
USING THE STRAVA APP (no tracker)
Tap the Record tab in the app. The GPS on your smartphone will record the data, & once you’re done with your workout it will be uploaded to your activities when you hit save.
Choose the plus sign then select the manual entry option. From there, you can fill in as many
details as you know, taken, for example, from a basic watch.
You can track your run manually and upload your results via the link that will be emailed to all participants on Sunday, 26 July.
You can also use your fitness tracker (e.g. Garmin Watch) and upload a link to your run from your device’s connected app (e.g. Garmin Connect).
Yes, absolutely! Simply complete the distance and upload your final time to the results page.
A unique link will be emailed to all participants on Sunday, 26 July. Simply click the link and add your race day results. Results will be displayed here from 9am time, Monday 27 July.

Please read the terms and conidtions outlined during the registration process.
