FAQs

Yes. You don’t need to take any further action to take part in Run the Rock Virtual. This does not affect or replace your registration for Run the Rock, now scheduled for 17 April 2021.

Given the current coronavirus Government and Health Department guidelines in Victoria, including a cap on the number of people permitted to attend outdoor events, Run the Rock has been postponed to 17 April 2021.

If you entered before 11:59pm, 9 October

We’ll email you a personalised digital race bib during Race Week.

If you entered after 11:59pm, 9 October

A unique link will be emailed to all participants during Race Week. Be sure to keep an eye on your inbox.

Simply click the custom link emailed to you and add your race day results – time, distance and a photo or link of your time/distance.

Results will be displayed here as they are submitted.

The results submission deadline will be 11:59pm, Sunday 18 October 2020.

Participants will be notified once race results are final.

From the Strava app, go to Profile > Activities, then click on the “Share” icon (box with arrow pointing up), click “More” and press “Copy” to copy the link or, alternatively, save the image.

We recommend saving the image rather than using the upload link as this won’t work if your profile is set to “Private”.

You are not required to provide a link AND an image. One of the two is fine.

“Strenuous exercise includes activities like jogging, running or cycling but not walking,” the official DHHS advice says.

Yes. Where you run is completely up to you! Just be safe, practice social distancing and follow the latest coronavirus restrictions.

DOWNLOAD THE APP
Go to your device’s app store and download the Strava app (Google Play or App Store)

CREATE YOUR ACCOUNT
You can choose to either sign up with Facebook, Google or your email.

COMPLETE YOUR PROFILE
Strava will prompt you to immediately fill out some basic information for your profile. It’s up to you how much of your personal details you want to keep private.

You can skip the other initial prompts with as little action as possible.

There’s nothing Strava will ask you up front that you won’t be able to change later, and it’s more worthwhile to make those decisions while learning to navigate the platform.

JOIN THE GROUP
Now that you’ve explored the basic functions, it’s time to get started. We’re ready, are you? Click the link in the email to request to join the Run Melbourne Virtual Strava Club.

There are three ways to track your runs using Strava:

USING A FITNESS TRACKER
On the app, head to “Settings”, then “Applications, Services and Devices”, then Connect a device to Strava. This will automatically upload your workouts after you save the activity to your watch.

USING THE STRAVA APP (no tracker)
Tap the Record tab in the app. The GPS on your smartphone will record the data, & once you’re done with your workout it will be uploaded to your activities when you hit save.

MANUALLY
Choose the plus sign then select the manual entry option. From there, you can fill in as many
details as you know, taken, for example, from a basic watch.

You can track your run manually and upload your results via the link that will be emailed to all participants on Sunday, 18 October.

You can also use your fitness tracker (e.g. Garmin Watch) and upload a link to your run from your device’s connected app (e.g. Garmin Connect).

No refunds or credit notes will be offered if you are not able to participate in the virtual event for any reason.

Please read the terms and conditions outlined during the registration process.
