The Sandy Point Half Marathon Event Village is located at Green Point Reserve, Brighton.

Stick around after your run and enjoy coffee, cheese toasties from Coon and a free post-race massage.

Your Coon cheese toastie is going to do more than just satisfy your taste buds – all proceeds will help support Run 10 Feed 10 and Feed Victoria, helping to provide nutritious meals to Victorians in need. It’s a win-win!

how to get there

The nearest train station to the event site is Brighton Beach (on the Sandringham line) and is just a short 3-minute walk to the event site. Please refer to Public Transport Victoria for further details and to plan your route.

Car parking i available in the side streets of Beach Road and in the Green Point, Brighton car park. Access to the side streets of Beach Road and the Green Point, Brighton car park is only available from the North end of Beach Road (the city end). Car Park fees apply and are approximately $13. Please park legally and be aware of parking restrictions in the area. Please carpool where possible.

Bike parking is available at the event site. Please make sure to bring your own lock to ensure your bike is secure.

The following age limits apply for each distance at the Sandy Point Half Marathon:

  • Half Marathon – Participants must be 16 years + on race day
  • 10K – All children under the age of 13 must be accompanied by a guardian. The child’s guardian must be entered in the event.
  • 5K – All children under the age of eight must be accompanied by a guardian. The child’s guardian must be entered in the event.

Any participant who plans on running under 4min per K for any distance can apply for a preferred start (placed at the front of the pack).

There are three options to collect your race kit:

Option 1 – Postage: If you wish to have your race pack posted to you, you must register before 11:59pm, Sunday, 25 August. Please note, a delivery fee of $8.95 applies.

Option 2 – Pickup from Sole Motive:

If you wish to “collect from the Sole Motive store”, you must register before 11:59pm, Tuesday 27 August 2019. Race packs will be available for collection from 10:00am, Thursday 29 August until 7pm on Thursday 5 September 2019.

Option 3 – Pickup on race day:

If you registered after 11:59pm Tuesday 27 August 2019 you must collect your Race Pack as per below. If you registered before then but cannot collect your Race Pack from the Sole Motive store you can also collect it as per below.

Race Pack collection on event weekend is a is available as per below:

All merchandise orders placed before 11:59pm, Tuesday 27 August 2019 will be available for collection from:

Sandy Point Half Marathon merchandise will not be posted.

Clothing storage is available during the run/walk. Your race number features a tear-off strip for you to attach to your backpack or clothing bag. Do not leave any valuables in the clothing bags as we cannot accept responsibility for valuables lost or stolen.

Please note, this year we’re cutting down on single-use plastic bags. Please remember to bring your own bag to the event.

You do not have to notify Sole Motive (the organiser) if you are unable to run for any reason.

However, there are no refunds for non-starters or non-finishers. We do offer a credit note, or you can change your distance. If you would like to change your distance please email info@solemotive.com.  If you would like to withdraw and would like a credit note (minus $10 for administration fees) please email info@solemotive.com by 5:00pm Friday, 30 August 2019. After this time no credit notes will be offered. Credit notes are valid for Sole Motive events only and are valid for 1 year from the date of issue.

Please note: Credit notes will not be issued when downgrading distances.

An aerobics warm-up will commence 20 minutes prior to the start of each race.

Toilets are located at the Event Village, both public and portable. The accessible public toilets are also located with 100m of the Event Village.

What do Pace Leaders do?

Pace Groups give you the chance to run with a group under the guidance of an experienced run leader who runs at a calculated pace to get you to the finish line at a specific time.

Where do I meet my Pace Leader?

Visit the Runner’s World pace leader marquee 15 minutes before your race or go to the start line to meet the pace leaders.

What pace groups are offered?

The pace groups offered are as follows:

5K PACE TIMES: 25 mins, 30 mins

10K PACE TIMES: 40 mins, 45mins, 50mins, 55 mins, 60 mins, 70 mins

HALF MARATHON PACE TIMES: 1:25, 1:30, 1:35, 1:40, 1:45, 1:50, 1:55, 2:00, 2:10

Pace leaders will be running on ‘gun time’, and will start in the suitable wave to that distance. Pacers will be wearing a balloon and race number with the goal time displayed for easy visibility.
